So I was channel flicking with the misses tonight and out of the blue on olive was a korean tv show named rollercoaster with english subtitles. I would love to watch more korean tv with english subtitles. But let me just point out I meal real tv, not the crap on arirang.
Anyway has anyone else noticed this? I usually don't watch olive and the next 3 programs that followed it were american so I couldn't check if it was just that show or if they were doing it for others. |

I've noticed this program having english subs when I caught it in Daegu. I haven't seen any others. Unfortunately I don't have that channel on my cable package in seoul. I don't think its all the episodes though as I'd seen some earlier in the day that didn't have English subs. |

It's possible that they are adding English subtitles for the benefit of Koreans who want to improve their English, not for us. Bear with me for a second: I know for example that Olive (I think it was Olive) plays one episode of Scrubs with Korean subs (as usual), but then immediately afterwards they show the same episode with English subs. My girlfriend mentioned that they started promoting this as an English study-tool. It's possible that they are doing the same thing with certain Korean programming, adding the English subtitles for those who are curious about the English translation of the Korean dialogue. Either way, it's great for us waygook saram who would like to watch some Korean programming from time to time! I hope they do it more often. |

Fox Life is the channel that subtitles back-to-back episodes of Scrubs, as well as 30 Rock and My Name is Earl at different points last year. |
