There's probably more than one Avalon in Incheon so you'd have to be more specific to get a better answer.

overall, Avalon seems to have a fairly good reputation.

Good reputation???? Rolling Eyes

They pay crap wages (almost minimum wage now) and expect you to work close to 40 hours a week as you jump through hoops to please the hogwon managers.

The original Avalons are great, I hear. However, I worked at a franchise in Incheon (Gyeyang campus) and it was crap. Bled students like crazy, and the managing director is a lazy, worthless drunk.

I was wondering the same thing.

I am in my third contract with Avalon. It is a pretty good place to work, you could do much worse.

You must be talking about a franchise.

I thought the general consensus on Avalon was that they're a good place to get your start in Korea, esp. if you have no experience, but that in your 2nd or 3rd year there are a lot of better jobs out there.

If I'm wrong, someone plz correct me.

I think it boils down to your director/campus.

I think it's safe to say that Avalon pays you relative to how much you have to work. Officially, you may be asked to teach up to 30 hours of classes a week - that's the maximum. However, during my time there, only one person was asked to teach 30 hours/week for 2 weeks due to a runner. Other than that, people generally teach about 3 classes a day at 75 minutes a piece (less than 4 hours/day). Keep in mind that this does not include prep time. Prep generally takes me 30 minutes or so a day. Your mileage may vary.

This has been my experience at 2 different campuses over the course of a year and a half.

Cheers,

I just got finished working at one the corporate Avalon campuses. In my year and a half there I can say it was a pretty decent job. Got everything I was promised and was never asked to work any insane amount of hours unless I wanted the overtime during the winter or summer. I heard some of the franchises though could be hit or miss so I would do your research before signing anything. Best of luck to ya!
