I want to leave Korea and I don't want to convert my money into Euros and I don't want to leave it in a bank here.

How much money can I carry through customs?

As much as you dare.

That said, there are limits for reporting import and export of currencies, most countries use 10,000 USD as the reporting threshold.

You can carry as much as you want, as long as you declare it. If it is foreign currency, customs usually doesn't ask a lot of questions when you declare it (this may of course depend on your appearance). My advice is to just declare the money, as not declaring gives customs the right to take it away from you.

You heard wrong. You can carry as much as you like. You just have to declare it at customs and possibly prove that you earned it legally. The $10,000 is the limit that if you carry more, you have to declare it.

Don't you have to pay an absurd amount of tax if you declare it?

Where?

In Korea?

Country of arrival?

10000 IF YOU GET CAUGHT.

WELL, YOU CAN PUT IN YOUR BOOKBAG AND IF THEY DON'T SEE THAT, I GUESS IT WILL BE FINE.

Declare it or lose it when you are caught.
