|
|
Hi,
I've been in Korea a couple of weeks now, and I was wondering about average noraebang prices? I went to one at 3am the other day, and was charged 40,000 won for an hour, with no drinks! This seems very steep compared to Japan where I used to pay that for an all nighter WITH drinks!
Thanks,
Rich |

Prices are different based on what kind of singing room you are in and where it is located. The "wedding" ones are nice and clean, serve no alcohol (not even illegally) and tend to cost more. I've paid 30,000 for an hour in one in Hongdae.
The other ones tend to be stickier, grimier, smokier, and cheaper. In Anyang, we usually pay about 20,000 an hour for these. They sometimes sell beer and soju illegally.
All in all, where you are determines price. Seoul is more expensive, in my opinion. |

40,000 is ridiculous. I think it depends on the size of your group as well though.
I've seen ranges from 5,000 to 30,000 (probably that same one in Hongdae where you can have ice cream while you wait, lol).
I'd say 15,000-20,000 per hour is pretty standard for a decent place. Not too dirty, but not brand new with staff that walks you to the room. |

| Thanks for the replies. It seems quite steep compared to the price of other things in Korea. I used to pay about 300 yen for an hour in Japan during the day, and like I said, not too much to go from 11pm-5am with unlimited drinks! Why is it more expensive here? I thought it would be cheaper than Japan... |

40k sounds expensive unless you were getting a really big room or in a really expensive area.
Also bring in your own soju and beer:D |

| Dang, you're saying 40,000 won is ridiculous? I partied in one last year with a group that was 200,000 per hour! There were 15 of us and we were cramped like on a airplane or bus, but it looked like a corporate executive boardroom without the extra space behind seats so you could have room to walk without climbing over people. Asia is cramped like cattle car class, even if going high end. This noraebang had a big beautiful marble lobby with marble rooms and state of the art systems. sweet on the inside, but cramped for the price. We got it for the English selections besides how nice the place is for a couple hours. |

| Protip: Unless someone else is paying, the hookers get in the way. Do *not* pay extra for the hooker. Unless she speaks decent English and you're using her presence as a pretext to get relatively cheap Korean lessons. |

How much of that was for the alcohol? |

Was probably 40k for the norebang, and 80k each for the hookers. |

Good catch! I was thinking the alcohol adds up in those places, but at THAT price... |

No hookers nor whiskey. I suspect among the 15 of us, we drank 50 to 60 glass bottles of Hite beer and also had some dinner of some sort of seafood soup on a burner with small sides of things like tator tots, fresh fruits tray, and spicy red chicken wings. It was pretty good, but food quantity lacked with 7 westerners and 8 Koreans present though the beer flowed consistently with a service guy popping in every 20 minutes to check up on us. |
