I'm a tropical beach bum. I love scuba and snorkeling and am looking for the next place to go to. I've been to Palawan in the Philippines, Bali, and Ko Pha Nang in Thailand. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

My girlfriend and I don't need upscale resorts but we'd rather not sleep in a lean-to on the beach. I enjoy my drinks but I'm not an all night partier (I feel like I'm writing a personal). Middle of the ground all around. What do you suggest?

Just 2 places I have been that have not already been mentioned. Both with good recommendations for scuba diving, although I can only comment on snorkelling. They were fantastic.

Perhentian islands off the east coast of Malaysia.

Gili Islands, Lombok, Indonesia

I probably don't need to mention how awesome the great barrier reef is do I?

you mentioned the great places. Of course there are millions of other tropical places with similar conditions. Now my question is. How do you deal all that little stinging you get when in the water? Whatever it is, it makes me go for shallower water and then the beach. I want to go further out and take a look but getting stinging and fear that a shark is going to attack. Is is a huge risk to swim in tropical waters? I wonder how natural and beautiful it is off the coast of Myanmar during our Winter?

Kish Island, Iran --- (it is a resort island).

Great diving!

You could get there for not much more than a price of a ticket to Thailand the way things are at the moment.
