To you I say you are all *beep*.

Various teachers around the place have complained directly to the POE or their local office of edu and their coordinators and *beep* it up for everyone.

These teachers were NOT given extra time off over winter like some other lucky people get. It depends on your school and what they decide. So these people moaned about not getting extra days off like the others.

Thanks to this, most if not all schools have been notified to remove 'free time' in winter and give teachers something to do. This comes from POEs.

I for one was allowed to stay away from school all winter with no extra classes for once, after having to seat warm all last winter. Now i have to seat warm for 2 and a half weeks thanks to this BS.

To you who complained, you *beep* it up for everyone, and most likely every other future person this time off at the discretion of the schools will be removed. Good on you ya *beep*.

Hope you get trapped in an airport for your winter vacation.

Always someone who has to *beep* it up for the rest.

That really annoys the hell out of me. I wish that only the schools that want an FT could apply for one and that then organisations like EPIK would just provide the base salary and then leave us alone. Fortunately my school seems to be well aware of the fact that one of the reasons I've stayed here so long is the amount of holiday time I get.

This really grinds my gears. I got a heap of extra days off over the summer and got to go home after camp was finished for the day.

If I have to sit in a cold office doing nothing all winter there will be hell to pay.

You have been warned! Evil or Very Mad

This is true. The POE meddling in school affairs is close to ruining it for me. My school is great. The head ajusshi at my POE is an *beep*.

I'm not in EPIK, but thankfully I've never had to keep a seat warm over break.

There's a form you can fill out---Korean teachers have to, too---which deals with professional development and what you plan to do during the break. Korean teachers are expected to prep for the upcoming semester, as are we, but they're permitted to work from home. If your handler says you have to come to school 9 to 5 to plan lessons, see about this form. Contract or not, I don't see why you should be forced to come to school, especially when you're the only teacher stuck in the office. I don't remember the name, but the form has "연수" in the title.

And people need to stop complaining about the contracts they signed . . . or at least stop doing it to the boss. EPIK is bad enough as it is without having dumbass 22-year-olds screwing it up for everyone else.

It was bound to happen. Some teachers on this board just can't resist bragging about how much free time off they get during vacations.
Should of kept your mouth shut. Twisted Evil

the oppertunity to be employed is equal. The fact that some schools have discretion to give extra free time is up to them and should not be compared across schools. Last year i had to seat warm and took it cos thats what i signed on for. Now all these people think they deserve everything extra that everyone else gets......you deserve *beep* in a cup as far as im concerned.

This is pretty typical. As far as POE is concerned all they do is watch my open lesson. They sometimes plan afterschool programs or camps. Other than that they have 0 influence. These ole greyish suits are completely out of touch with reality. I've never seen them once take a NET's side in a dispute. It's best to have nothing to do with them.

Ooooooh, so THAT's why our local ed dep't called us all into a meeting and mandated that we work camps and/or seat-warm during the ENTIRE break. We were all really confused because we thought it was totally up to our individual schools (most of which had promised to give us time off), and furious with our local dep't.

Wow, they kept saying, "all foreign teachers have to do this...", and we were like WTF, and figured the local dep't was playing exploit the FTs. Snap.

Happy holidays to you too.

Grow up man, equality for all means we all have to be honest about our situations. You got to go home, not you can't. Tit for tat. Don't harass people just because your salad days are over.

so now you're getting what you "signed up for", so why don't you just "take it" like you did last year?

It's not up to your school. They're violating our employment contract if one school does this and another that.

We signed the same contract so we should be treated equally.
