Depends if they let you pay w/ dollars at the visa on entry checkpoint. At Nong Kai, the checkpoint for Lao and Thailand you can pay in either Thai Baht or US Dollars. It comes out cheaper if you pay w/ dollars.

It's $25 online vs 20 in person, assuming you get that at the non-airport crossings (they'll try and get more out of you with exchange rates, 'stamps', etc)

If you're flying in, then the 5 extra jumps you straight ahead to passport control (no waiting in 2 lines- one of your visa on arrival, one for entry stamp).

Either way, unless you're crossing in where they don't take Evisa, you're better of with it...$5 extra bucks beats a few lines and saves an extra page on your passport (evisas get turned in at immi, they're not permanent).

The e-visa is worth it. About 90% of the people on my flight were part of Korean tour groups... and all of them had to line up and go through the visa application. I just walked straight ahead to get my entry stamp. Smile
