It's a lot cheaper here but I haven't read it.
A lot of online book sellers have used copies available try looking there as well. |

Thats an old book.. I read it like 6-7 years ago.. but when the author wrote it.. well, I believe it was sometime in the 1980s.. something like that. I just saw it was published in 1988.
It was really good though.. he has a very optimistic and interested perspective on things.. I was reading it and as he described certain scenes I felt I'd be drained by the excessive attention.. he seemed to be eating it up. Great read of a book. You can tell he loved being here and his walk.. and loved the kindness and attention he received here. |

The high price is because it is out of print! |

It was written nearly a generation ago (my definition of generation!). Also an Englishman who has resided in Hong Kong might have prejuiced views.
Read below an excerpt from Amazon's own website about the book:
Despite occasional factual errors, Winchester's "walk" provides a treasury of interesting and usually informed insights.
Occasional factual errors and usually informed insights?
Shouldn't this book be under fiction?... |

Its self-biographical. He did do the walk. He at times reflects on Korean history during his walk and Korean people.. so perhaps there are some historical facts not quite right in his reflections.
Most of the book takes place of him just walking and the experience of it itself. Its actually a pretty good book. |

It's not a bad read. Probably best enjoyed if you are a relative newbie. |

Have you read BUG? It's super cool. SOme of the best articles I have read about Korea (and that includes your blOg) is in this mag:
http://bug.andyou.com/
Unfortunatley, the issue I like isn't featured (!?!??!) but the guy who makes/publishes/sells the book sits on a mat and hangs around sub way stations. |

Checked it out but it didn't hold my interest. I like websites with lots of photos. Otherwise I'll read a book. |
