Today one of the school office workers, a man, accosted me in the hall and said in very broken English that he wants to go home with me. What could that mean?

Here's almost literally what he said:

"What .. time.. pinish?"

K: "Oh, around 2:30."

"OK. Go.. home .. together? Your home."

K: "Er, waeyo?"

"... OK, OK. Your home."

Anyone care to speculate?

You need a MARP

http://s153139690.websitehome.co.uk/marp.htm

Not really that work safe if you scroll down, but the first bit is fine.

I'm getting worried about this. I should have pressed him on the 'waeyo', but he rushed off.

He's not going to attack me. (I mean, why schedule it in advance?) I just don't know what he thinks I agreed to.

i'm so glad i blend in and avoid so much of the crap you obvious-looking foreigners get. my year would have been a lot worse if i had to deal with that kind of harassment in addition to what i already have to deal with.

^ How do you know he isn't going to attack you?

He may well have said to you that he is planning on kidnapping you on the way home.

You had better prepare for it.

Don't do it. Avoid him. Don't let a strange dude go to your house.

"No" would have been a better response. Cool

It was only a misunderstanding. I'd told someone in the office that my classroom was cold because the heater was broken, and she thought I'd said that my apartment was cold because the heater was broken. So she told this guy, who is something of a handyman, that he should fix it for me, and that's what caused it all.

Yeah. I'm Canadian and sometimes the instinct to be inoffensive gets the better of me.

Beat him down anyway. Maybe it's a conspiracy. Take no risks.
