I'm considering buying an Xbox 360. Anyone got any advice?
I've heard lots and lots over the year about RROD, does that still happen? I don't want the basic model, quite prepared to shell out for the elite or whatever. Is it worth it, which is the best value for money?
Will it die on me? How long will the damn thing last? Will it help if I have a fan blowing on it constantly to help with cooling? |

| The RROD issue has more or less been taken care of I think, with the newer chipset. Just make sure you get one with the 65nm Falcon chipset, just google it, there are sites that will tell you what to look for. If it's made in 2008 I think by default it would be the Falcon chipset. Unless you buy it from a small shop or 2nd hand I don't think you'd be likely to get an older one. I think I read a while back there's an even newer model coming out but no idea on if or when. You don't need the elite, just get the mid-range one. |

I just traded in my ringed 360 for a new one a month ago and the new one runs MUCH cooler and quieter, and it isn't even a Jasper, the newest generation that should be on shelves now.
Check the mfg. date on the unit you buy and get the newest you can find. |

| ^ I'm in the process of doing that now even though it doesn't have the PROD issue. The warranty is up this month and I'm hoping they won't even check it and just send me off a new one. |

No live account here. I just convert the files to WMV. Either that or DVD files. I'm not a big movie buff, but the result seems to please my son. Any Video Converter is a simple program to use, if you don't mind the time involved in conversion.
p.s. to the op. My box, bought here, has a manufactured date on it of nov '07 and I bought it in apr of '08. It was modded at the time of purchase and I have had absolutely no problems with it. The one time I rroded was when I knocked the power cord out - problem was solved by reinsertion of said cord. I actually played it more in the hot and humid summer than I'm playing it these days and I have had no fans on it. It DOES get a little hot, but I keep all areas around it clear, and I do remember to shut it down. |

common error
what you need to do is create a second account. then try to play the file. it will let you download the codec then
then you can log back in with your normal account and play them anyth\ime
get TVersity as well so you can stream more formats |
