I was wondering if anyone ever brought approximately $5,000 (CDN) worth of electronics with them back to Canada. I am thinking specifically of Speakers along with DJ Mixing equipment. I guess I'll have to declare this stuff? Anyone know what kinds of duties I will have to pay? I tried looking around on the net, but I'm not good at searching, so was just wondering if anyone already dealt with this experience of bringing back personal possessions from Korea.

If I am not mistaken, (I looked this up a few years ago) but, you are allowed to bring in up to $10,000 of stuff, if you have lived outside Canada for a year without paying taxes on it.

You can bring back items of any value so long as you have lived outside Canad for a year, you are supposed to have owned them for 6 months before re-entry.

Out of Korea for more than 7 days and less than 1 full calendar year you get $750 duty free.

Out for 1 full year you get $750 duty free AND up to $10,000 repatriation allowance. The caveat is that it must have been used by you and owned by you for more than 6 months.

Out for more than 5 years you get the $750 + the $10,000 with the 6 month ownership restriction removed. The item must have been used by you however (at least once).
