Does anybody have any information about the gas rebate that was given out by the government?

I work for a very good hagwan in Daegu with many branches. I knew of friends who were getting the 240,000 won gas rebate (for Koreans and foreigners working in Korea in 2007). Around early December one of my foreign managers sent out a mass e-mail to all teachers saying that the school will be sending (or sent) all the teachers information to the government and they (the government) will deposit the money into our accounts.

I assumed I would be getting this because I was working in Korea from February 2007 to the present. Also, a friend of mine started work here in June 2007 and received the full rebate. (This friend works for the same company)

I hadn't seen any sign of the rebate yet, so I asked my manager if all my information was given correctly. I worked for another school from February 2007 to April 2008, then began at my current employer in May. I thought maybe they didn't apply on my behalf because they only thought I'd have been in Korea since May 2008 and thus didn't qualify. My manager told me that because I changed schools I don't qualify for it, which seems very odd to me.

I have requested some contact numbers for the government from my manager and will try (with the help of my Korean girlfriend) to get some answers.

I have a feeling that my school screwed up my application, but want to know if anybody has any information on this that I don't have. Something doesn't add up in my opinion. It is for all residents of Korea who worked in 2007. I worked in 2007 and was a resident of Korea. If I don't qualify, then why don't I qualify because I changed schools in 2008???

If you were paying income tax you should get the rebate. Changing schools in 2008 should not affect it.

I think the deadline for applications was several months ago.

I had to get a tax form from my old hogwan for the application. My new school took the info and filled out the forms for me.

I got 240,000 Won deposited into my account about a month later. Then a few weeks ago, I noticed they also deposited another 60,000 Won...which I thought was strange, but I'm not going to argue.
