|
|
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has any info on Laurus Education? I did a search, but there were only three (negative) posts, from the same guy about two years ago, so I'm not sure if they're representative of the school.
Then again, one of the managers from the school I talked to seemed really desperate, so I'm not sure if it's a good sign.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. |

I do not have the post credits to send you a PM, but I can briefly address your concern here.
I work for Laurus Education. I have been in Korea for almost seven years, but this is the first job that has allowed me to grow and build a career. It is an unusual place full of very talented people with many great ideas about education and teaching. It is run like an American company and not like a typical Korean hagwon.
It is somewhat difficult in the current job market to attract higher caliber job candidates who are interested in the kind of experience that Laurus Education has to offer.
Please do not confuse an anxious manager trying to fill a vacancy in an under-staffed department with desperation. We meticulously read each resume and consider the credentials presented before contacting a potential candidate.
If you have an opportunity to interview with Laurus Education, you should not pass it up.
I can be reached through PM for my contact information at Laurus Education if you have any further questions.
I am unable to find the negative posts through Google, if you can link them to this thread that would be helpful, then those comments may be addressed as well. |

"It is somewhat difficult in the current job market to attract higher caliber job candidates who are interested in the kind of experience that Laurus Education has to offer. "
lol.
It's a hagwon.
Talk to a current employee. Preferably, talk to two current employees.
It's not uncommon for a hagwon to "encourage" an 11th month employee to be their recruiter. Encouragement usually comes in the form of severance and airfare.
Trust me when I say that there aren't any hagwons looking for "higher caliber" employees. They are looking for suckers and slaves.
A good hagwon is looking for a mature and dedicated employee. But, to get that employee to stay for a year, the employer has to be exceptional in their treatment of the employee. Not the other way around.
So, you need to be dilligent in your search for an academy that will treat you right. Not the other way around. |

I do have the feeling you are slightly biased in your situation and would be hard pressed for an objective opinion.
But yes, there are some hagwons out there that do provide quality, rather then just appearance. |
