Hi
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for teaching subject teachers (like Math teachers, History teachers, etc) English at a PS, I have 4 more 2 hour lessons. I think I could make up a lesson plan for each one I have not taught teachers before so any advice would be much appreciated. The level of English varies a bit but I would say they are lower to mid intermediate level, i.e. they understand 90% of what I say and can create some sentences themselves. All of the teachers I am teaching have at least 24+ years experience, its a bit daunting.

Also any good ideas/topics for a debate/discussion?

I used stuff from this site with sucess in my teacher's classes. Look at some of the older stories, they are written up twice one "hard" one "easy":

I recommend that site also -- can be conversational even, if you just concentrate on that content/part of the material. Sean does a great job and if you want some with very Korean specific content - you can use the videos for some of the Breakingnewsenglish stuff I made. On our Current Events page on EFL Classroom 2.0 (check the site map).

Just click the video and play. two versions for each article and then click below to go to breakingnewsenglish to get the handouts... Lots of other nice material there too.

I'd also recommend using Korean specific content with Korean adults. This really works and one book I like is Tasks for the High School Textbook. Much can be adapted for Koreans. Find it on our teacher training site http://setiteachers.ning.com You'll have to scroll around. I think if you scroll down there is a link with the videos...

I have also posted for download there some nice textbooks we've put together specifically for teaching English to teachers. Find them in the forum on the main page.

Keep it about something they will want to discuss, keep it light and then structured, light / structured. Adults appreciate that kind of pacing....

Cheers,

DD
