Ummmm....according to CPAC's straw poll, that is not the choice of the party:
Here are the official results:
Mitt Romney - 20 percent
Bobby Jindal - 14 percent
Ron Paul -13 percent
Sarah Palin - 13 percent
Newt Gingrich -10 percent
Mike Huckabee - 7 percent
Mark Sanford - 4 percent
Rudy Guiliani - 3 percent
Tim Pawlenty - 2 percent
Charlie Crist - 1 percent
Undecided - 9 percent

| Besides, not everyone is quite ready for a guy who did an exorcism in college. |

Poor Bobby Jindal. If anyone could bring the GOP into the 21st century, someone with an Indian background should certainly be welcome. At least the good people of LA understand the blessings of mixed heritage despite the klanish behaviour of the rest of them nationwide, not just in the south.
I do believe the party put him in a tough spot answering the SOTU address for them. If they thought he was going to wow us like Barack did in 2004 at the DNC convention, they guessed wrong. |

| You know, I was just thinking. Current Events is no longer the same, lacking Gatsby and the anti-Palin threads and all... |

| Comparing Palin to Jindal is grossly ungenerous to the latter. |

Jindal is quite accomplished for his age. Rhodes scholar, McKinsey & Co, governor at a young age..
I didn't see his reply however. |

I think he's not a bad guy, but it's painful to watch him try to toe the party line. That rebuttal to Obama's 'State of the Union' speech was pathetic. |

I'm not sure about all Americans, but I'm pretty sure most of us don't appreciate being spoken to like we're a bunch of 6 year olds.
The Republican Party better remove its head out of its collective keister because is seems that the electorate, by and large, is simply not buying this stupid f'in nonsense anymore. |

Wow, he really was bad. I thought people were just exaggerating, but nope, he did a poor job. Very cringe-worthy.
Maybe he was nervous? I was under the impression he was a little more smooth than that. |

Here is an acting coach's (non-political) analysis of:
What Caused Bobby Jindal's Speech to Be a Disaster?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/howard-fine/what-caused-bobby-jindals_b_170179.html
Other people have given poor performances and recovered; Jindal probably will too. However, he has to dig himself out of a deeper hole--he's become a punch line because of that particular performance. |

I get that these polls are fun to talk about, but they're really meaningless at this point in the game. Obama was barely an asterick on these types of polls last season and now he's sitting pretty in the big white house.
As for Jindel - no respect for him at this point and he'll have to recover from that awful speech he gave. Though it's possible for any of these candidates to become the GOP's ticket leader, I think there are better options out there that will arise from the muck. |
