We all know that working at 2 hagwons or doing privates are illegal in Korea but what about non-ESL jobs? Is this legal? I'm guessing probably not but I just thought I'd check.

In the first instance (assuming you have an E2 visa) you are only allowed to work legally for the person who sponsered your visa.
However I think it is possible to get another job if it is okayed by immigration but I'm not 100% sure about this. Try giving the immigration office a call (02 650 6293) and see what they say. However make sure taking up a second job is ok with your current employer first just in case they ring up your hagwon after your inquiry. |

I would have thought a non-ESL job would require a non-E2 visa (for example, newspaper copy editors have a different one...), and I doubt that immigration would issue two different work visas at the same time. |
