Been offered what seems like a good job in Korea (Dongguk Uni). Thinking about going back.
Not too sure about ending up in Gyeongju though. My impressions of the place weren't great last time i visited it.
What's it like for living and working in ? |

I've only been there once on vacation, but seems pretty cool. It's got some cool old temples and tombs, and you can actually see stars.
The only bad things I can think of are the usual things about living in a small town, and another foreigner I talked to said there's a good esl teacher community, but it's so few people that if you have a falling out with one, it's known about by all of the other foreign teachers. |

I lived there for many years (the first time was twenty-five years ago) and I taught at DGU for fourteen years. I know some of the people still there (lots of turnover in the past few years, so many new people came since I was last there a few years ago). Please feel free to PM me and I can give you more info. |

The past few weekends I've been going there from Seomyeon in Busan (if you look at a subway map of Busan it's at the intersection of two of the lines). It takes me 1 hour 30 to get from Seomyeon to Gyeongju. It's only about 55 minutes away from Nompodong in Busan and PNU is, I'm guessing, a total of 1 hour 15 minutes away from Gyeongju bus terminal. The bus tickets are cheap, I think there might be a promotion on at the moment.
There's a wide variety of cultural and nature related activities to do in Gyeongju, IMHO it's one of the most beautiful areas in Korea.
The town pretty much shuts down at 10:00 though and I didn't see any indications that there's any sort of social life.
If you need to party, then you'll probably be heading into Busan on the weekends. |

I've just been offered a really good public school job and am probably going to accept.
I'm just wondering how much is the bus to Busan or Ulsan? Do they generally shut down at midnight? |
