Do you go to someone for hair cuts and color who you love? I have long hair with layers and it's about time to get a cut, and I also need color done. I'm really picky and very nervous about getting my hair cut here.... so I'm looking for recommendations! PM me if you like...

I know a good guy but I'm not sure how good he'd be at non-Korean hair. He has done a lot of impressive dye-jobs and other unusual haircuts though.

you should be - it's your HAIR after all - right?

I've been here several years and have never found a decent stylist - despite serious efforts - you can get a semi-decent cut but styling, sorry, don't think it's going to happen, especially w/long hair - mine is shoulder, sometimes a little longer.

other ladies can speak about coloring, I think that's possible - Ks love to change their hair color -

if by some chance you do find a good stylist, please do post !!

I definitely will let you know if I have a good experience with someone!

I emailed the Aveda website and they weren't able to give me any recommendations, and I went by an Aveda salon but didn't get a good vibe with the woman I spoke with. She made me feel bad about my hair, telling me what was 'wrong' with it in her opinion, which is never a good sign. I also got the feeling she would hack off the length no matter how little I wanted trimmed. Shocked

Soooo I'm hoping someone here can give me a recommendation for someone who is tried and true! Here's more info in case that will help: my hair is about midway down my back, with long layers. My hair texture is fine on the bottom and coarser on top but not as coarse as most Koreans' hair. It's naturally wavy and sometimes I let it do its thing and just throw some product in it, other times I blow it out and style it straight. I'm naturally a level 7 but am at a level 9 or 10 right now, and my growout is getting pretty scary so it's definitely time to take action.

If you have somebody you love and don't mind sharing, I'm all ears!!!

the Aveda salon in Gangnam, near Gangnam station is good for cuts - but like I said - styling, forget it - they just don't know - and if you look at K women's hair - you can see why. Mostly their hair is thicker, heavier, styles are different than how Western women do their hair.

I settle for the good cut and use the Aveda products, and that's about it.

got too much hat hair anyway nowadays - baby it's coooolddd outside!!! Laughing

They love the bowl cuts and bangs. I`m glad Western women dont do the Stepford look.

i've tried michel at the green turtle in itaewon for a trim and magic straight perm and was really happy with him. his english is great, and he made sure to ask me lots of questions about what i've done to my hair in the past before he did the perm (just in case)

i'm actually planning on going back there this week for a cut
