Hi.. Has anyone gotten visas to Vietnam in Cambodia? There's an embassy in Phenom Phen (sp?) and wondered how easy it'd be to get one there... Just decided on Vietnam and may not have time to go to Seoul to the Viet embassy and wait a whole day.. Also, on a website, it says it's possible to fax your application/passport information to the immigration dept. in Vietnam and then getting a visa issued upon arrival... This service is for those who aren't in an area with an embassy available... Anyone done this? If so, please share your experience! Thanks in advance!

Yes, I have gotten one in Phnom Penh. It was a two day turn around time through my guesthouse because I was too lazy to go find the embassy myself. I think it was only $3 more or something.

You can get one at the consulate in Sihanookville in less than 30 minutes on your own.

www.vietnam-visa.com

You can pay for a letter which lets you get a visa into Vietnam at the border. Might want to check if your intended border crossing will be able to process it.

Hey thanks deadman! Have you used this service? Looks like I need to get my visa here in Korea before I leave in a week as I'll fly directly to Vietnam..not Cambodia. However, I live in a rural area, and it'll be difficult getting to the embassy in Seoul before I leave. So, I may need to use the service site you sent above.. Anyone used it? I've heard there are some scams out there, so just wondered if it's reputable?

I'm using the service for the first time now - I have paid the money and have the letter (via email) and so I will present that when I arrive at the airport, and they will issue me with a visa on the spot... if all goes according to plan!

I hadn't considered it might be a scam, but I guess with Vietnam you can't be too careful. A quick google search didn't turn up any scam warnings for that site. I'm pretty sure they are legit. I have emailed them with queries and they are very helpful.

I think I paid US$25 for the letter, and will pay another US$25 for the visa.

Another option for you in Korea is to go to your local travel agent. They will offer you a service where they take you passport, get the visa, and give it back to you days later. It seemed expensive last time I used that service.

I do think the internet option is the way to go. There seem to be several places that offer that service, so you may want to shop around for the most reputable.

Also, think about whether you want a single or multiple entry visa. If you are planning a side trip to Cambodia and you need to return to VN to fly home you will need a multiple entry visa, unless you get a new VN visa in Cambodia, (easy, $25) or fly back to VN and connect straight to your outward flight.

Have a good trip!

Thanks again deadman... It sounds like a legit operation; however, do you know anyone who has used this service or a similar one without any problems? I mean actually obtained visas at the airport and went on his/her merry way? Anyone out there used this type of visa service for Vietnam? Please share if you have.. Thanks!
