I want to do an online TEFL course so that I can go from a level 2 EPIK to a level 1 next year. I will have 2 years by the end of this contract.
I found a course i'm interested in called TEFL-Corp. It's a 100 hour certificate done online. Does it have to be over 100 hours or atleast 100 hours? I'm confused by the meaning of 100+.
If it is over 100 hours, can anyone recommend a good course on the internet?

For GEPIK it has to be a minimum of 100 hrs, I did the ITTT course.
If EPIK says it has to be over 100 hrs, then you may have to do one which is 120 hours. Confirm it with EPIK. |

| If you can, do a course with more than 100 hours (ie 120 hours). This way you are covered if they decide to raise the requirement to a certificate with more hours. My wife got an 80 hours course when this was still ok for Gepik. The next year Gepik raised it to 100 hours, and my wife ended up earning less than me (with a 100 hours certificate) even though she has more teaching experience! |

| I think ITTT has a 120 hr course. I may be wrong though. |

| No, it's only 100 hours. I've scoured google and cant find one that is really viable at an affordable price. |

I'd also suggest for others who are interested - saving some time by using our TEFL course bookmarks at EFL Classroom 2.0. Nice and growing list of the major courses and also a few search engines specifically for TEFL related training/certification.

Could you post something short about the structure of the KEI course, and about how much time it would take to start/complete. The website www.koredinco.com gives very little information.
I need to have a 100 hour certificate in hand by early February (currently unemployed so I have plenty of time to put in the work). This is the most important consideration for my choice of cert.
I have no teaching experience, so if I am able to get something more than a raise out of the certification I'll be much more confident.
Another course I am considering is ITTT - but after reading everything I could find about the course on this forum, it seems like just the kind of certification I want to avoid.
Summary: I think I would prefer the KEI course, but I'm not sure it can be completed before the window to finish for the pay raise closes. Edit: I need to have the certification by early Feb. |

Forgive my ignorance, but I am not up on all of this lingo. I am hoping someone here can clarify my situation for me. I took my TESOL course at the graduate level at a university in the US. It was 15 credit hours (i.e. 5 graduate level courses including ELTI, ELTII, SLA, Teaching Pronunciation, and Linguistics).
How does one classify this sort of program using the hours posted on threads like these? |
