|
|
I did a search and didn't come up with anything particular, so I thought this might be deserving of its own thread. I do Olympic-style recurve archery as a hobby and have been looking for a practice range in Seoul, preferably in the wider Dongjak area. I don't need a coach, or a place to buy equipment, or lessons (though it would be nice). Just access to vaguely FITA-style targets at various distances. I speak next to no Korean, so having the owners speak some English would be a plus as well.
I understand that for whatever reason competitive archery (ie, not traditional) is a closed club in Korea so I'm somewhat apprehensive about getting easy access to a range. I don't mind fees or club memberships, but I don't know what else is involved. I do know there's a facility in Mokdong, which is fairly close, but nothing else.
Anyone have experience with this? |

While you might find something, I would be surprised. I used to be a FITA archer, but changed to trad archery back in '93 when I couldn't find a place to shoot the other style; I haven't looked back.
Actually, Korean trad archery is competitive, and I personally find it to be much more satisfying than FITA, but maybe that's just me. Still, you should give trad a try--you might be surprised |

Korea dominates Olympic archery. Is it really that hard to find an open lane you rent for X won an hour in Seoul without strings attached? =/ |

That is actually the only one I know of. Located outdoors next to the river below Mokdong Stadium. There are several bike paths that go by it, and it's near Omokyo Bridge. The only reason I'm aware of it is because it shares space with a traditional archery range. |
