Let's see if anyone is a genius and can explain this crap to me:

I use a notebook computer. I have a built in 10/100 lan input. I also use an ethernet 10Mbit 3com card for at home. I also have a USB 10/100 linksys network adapter.

My internet at home is aDSL.

Now here is the problem:

Each NIC gives me a different IP with my ISP. My normal route of using my ethernet NIC WONT load webpages today. Like NOTHING. I can still hook up with MSN or Yahoo! Messanger. I can even FTP no problem...but no webpages at all.

My internal NIC I usualy have set up for work, so I tried that and NOPE it won't let me load webpages and it lets me do everything else.

So I dig around in my computer crap drawer, and use my USB 10/100 network adapter.

I can read any webpage, but here's the kicker, if I ftp or download something instead of getting 500-750KB/s I usually get I get 20-50KB/s.

So WTF is with this crap? Is it my ISP is stupid and just randomly allows certain IPs to get certain speeds/allowances, or is my notebook on crack?

My dsl is megapass if that is any help.

Doubt I am set up as anything special.

Fact is today it is acting all screwy, and I can't figure out WHY.

Why is it i can browse the web with 1 NIC and not the other 2?

Why does the browsing NIC SUCK at downloads compared to the other two?

It sounds like switching between all the different hardware is screwing with the settings on your laptop... network connections can be very finicky, especially if things aren't done in exactly the right order... I suggest leaving it for a day or two (however long you can stand) and see if it goes back to being happy. If not, I'd reinstall the hardware.

Well I got tired of having to use that crap USB, so I turned off the computer and swapped the lan line to my ethernet and seems to work alright now.

But I tried the same thing in the early part of the afternoon and it didn't work, so I am wondered if my ISP is just crap, if my modem is crap, or if it is my hardware that is crap?

Thanks for the suggestions though.

When in doubt, uninstall and reinstall everything... often times it becomes too difficult to trouble shoot problems that you have no clue about and a complete rebuild will fix it without you even having to know what was wrong...

Just go to the website. Maybe it's a driver thing. What version of windows are you running on? How old is the nic? See if there's an update or patch neccessary for it...

p.s.

or just get yer' pc some methodone...
