They've just brought two iphone apps out; a newb app and a beginner. (it's called pocket korean)

Has anyone tried these yet? I figured the main subscriptions are too pricey.

I've bought all the apps from Korean class 101 and I'm consistently disappointed with them. They are overpriced and don't offer all of the functions I'd like them to. Often they are buggy, too.

I have a full membership with them at their website and I find that much more useful.

I use my Ipod touch to make a list of vocabulary I need to learn and then I review it on the bus.

Which membership plan would you recommend? I got an email offering me the premium for a 'price of your choice' for the first month then 25 dollars a month.

Is it structured well and do you think there is enough beginner content? Has it actually helped you progress much?

All the best

Well, I don't really know what level you are at. I'm still a beginner, but I can understand a lot of their intermediate podcasts too.

Korean class 101 is like any study aid in that it will only work if you use it a lot and consistently. The podcasts are free, so if you just want to listen to those, don't worry about registering. I registered becaus I learn better from visuals and I like to see the PDF lesson notes.

I've shown a few different sites to Korean friends and they've told me that Korean Class 101 seems the most natural. The expressions are useful and it's easy enough to understand.

If you are still at a very basic level (learning Hangeul or how to tell time) I would suggest looking at free sites. This site really excels once you've got a bit of a base.

They must have started charging for the podcasts; now you can only obtain some sample podcasts. If you want the others you need to subscribe.

I think you just have to get a free subscription to download the podcasts. I could be wrong, I often am, but from what I remember they just want your e-mail address so that they can send you e-mails reminding you of the benefits of a premium subscription.
