Our xbox 360 just started saying that the tray is open, whenever we put discs in. the tray isn't open, though. We've tried it vertical, horizontal, right way up, upside down, and even though it looks to be closed as always, it says 'Open Tray' on the dashboard.
Thoughts?! Helps?! |

that's bad news. Mine started to do that, now its really wonky- b'arely reads half the disks and scratches (gouges holes) in the ones it does. "Open tray" generally means the lazer is out of alignment, which in turn means that the system is aging.
Sounds like a trip to yongsan is in order for both of us. Hopefully, they can fix it. |

Is it still under the three year warranty for red ring?
if so (and it's not been modified although you can try anyway)
call them up and tell them that your game has a frozen a few times and on restart you get a blank screen and the flashing red ring - read up on it.
They will take your serial number address etc and replace it . they will claim that they are checking it, but they don;t
I just got my box back - genuine rrod this time - and its a 2008-12-10 model.
Last year Ihad the sae problem as you and just sent it back under the RROD warranty. |

Thanks everyone. I sort of forgot I posted on here about it We think it's fucked, basically. We took it apart to clean the laser, as per following the youtubes showing how to do this ( i know, i know) but it turned out we didn't have the right screwdriver for all the inside screws. So we sort of gave up, put it back together, and played monopoly instead. It's modded so there's no getting it fixed. My husband heard that we can get one for about $200 on post, so here's hoping.
NB: We tried a disk cleaner too, but it wouldn't read it. The shit of it is, it will still play music cds, so it's only the dvd reader that's fucked |

When I said Yongsan I meant the guys who illegally modify xboxes. I bet they can fix it and they probably don't care about warranties. |
