I recently signed a contract for a Gwanggyo campus in Suwon after having been assured that it was a more urban area. However, from the research I've done now it appears I may have just signed myself up for a year of living in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do other than go to work and go home except on the rare weekend when I have time to travel somewhere. Please someone tell me that there's actually stuff to do other than hike and be outdoorsy in the Gwanggyo area. |

You are in Suwon. What would be stopping you from getting in a short cab or bus ride to Ingyedong where all the bars and clubs are? |

Suwon's not that big. You can probably take a bus or taxi most places you'd like to go, and Gwangyo is set to get a subway link in the next year. There's also a KTX link to Seoul.
Suwon would not be my first choice to live for Korea, as it feels old and faded to me, but Gwangyo is a new area there, and it's cleaner and newer with some nice parks. It may not be a bad place to live when you learn how to get around to the club/nightlife districts. |
