Hello everyone:
I'll soon be making my first trip out of Korea and was wondering how user friendly the subway was for making the trip to the airport. For some of you that have made the trip does it come out right in the airport or somewhere close by. Is it easy or difficult to make it to the check in counters?
Thanks,

The subway is pretty user friendly. You can take the express line from Gimpo Airport to Incheon, and it stops fairly close to the check-in counters, if my memory serves me right.

You can see a map of the location of the Incheon Airport station under "station information" here: http://www.arex.or.kr/jsp/eng/index.jsp

The only problem I found was that the subway ride to Gimpo can take a while, depending on where you depart from. I have found the airport busses to be much faster.

As was mentioned in another recent thread, the line from Gimpo to Incheon isn't part of the subway. It's an Airport Express train and will cost you a little more.

It's quite easy to make it to the check in counters from the airport train exit, just follow the crowd or the somewhat bewildering signs.

If you're hauling a lot of luggage with no help I suppose you might consider the distance far, but all in all I think it's pretty close. Get off the train and go through the turnstiles and you should be in line to check in in 10 minutes or so. There are no stairs or dark passages or anything lol.

There's a reason Incheon airport is one of the best in the world.

From downtown Seoul, say Gangnam, it takes 2 hours and 40 minutes (if you're lucky catching transfers) to get to Incheon, so plan accordingly.
Maybe go to the Express Bus Terminal, pay the extra 10 bucks and take the Airport Express Bus. You're at Incheon in 50 minutes, no dragging luggage around three or four subway transfers.

Looks like you're right. They've added Incheon onto the SMRT map (http://www.smrt.co.kr/Train/Subwaymap/Eng/Subwaymap.jsp) and it looks like it takes about two hours from most places in central Seoul. Much better to take the bus, IMO. A bus from Express Bus Terminal (just the ones that stop on the road in front) only take an hour or less.

taking the AREX train is nice if you don't have luggage and want to save money. I took it out to meet a friend, and it took me about about an an hour and fifty minutes (from byeongjeom to the airport). But taking luggage on the subway and hauling it around, it's worth the few extra bucks to take the bus.

From Bucheon, it takes about exactly 1 hour by subway/AREX to the airport.

The bus takes a similar amount of time, as it doesn't go there directly.

I liked the train line, as it's usually nearly empty.

Don't take the subway to the airport! Take the extra 3 minutes of effort and find the airport shuttle bus route! It will be infinitely quicker and easier!

I am coming from Daegu and taking KTX to seoul station. How long does it take to Incheon aiport my subway ? I'd rather take subway as it easier for me than trying to find the bus terminal. Is it hard to find express bus terminal from Seoul station?

It's easier to get the express limousine airport bus from Seoul Station. The AREX link from Gimpo to Seoul Station is still under construction, & won't be opened until 2010. The bus leaves from either side of Seoul Station, as well as from under the flyover, in front of OLD Seoul Station.

Probably easiest, is to go to the taxi rank outside & look for the traffic island out towards Namsan. That's where the airport busses leave from.

Just pay when you board the bus (or swipe your T-money card - just make sure you have enough on it).
