Pusan National University is now hiring for the March term. Having just completed a stint with them I can say from experience that it is about as good a university job as you can possibly get in the southern province if you are looking for an easy contract without much hands-on oversight.
We had some trouble with the Korean high-ups halfway through our contract here as they unexpectedly raised our teaching load, but then they reduced our load again and we were able to work on our masters without any difficulties.
We would not have recommended it at the salary level we earned this past year, but they just raised the salary to 2.1 and the housing to 400/month so that is quite decent for this area of South Korea.
We never had trouble with the timing of our payment, the fellow English teachers are all friendly and easy to get along with, and in general working here is a breeze.
Just a personal heads-up for those looking for a University job in Pusan who want a personal testimony.
My wife and I are finishing our time here. My wife is pregnant and we are preparing to head home to receive our masters diplomas and move on with life in North America.
I've been critical of many silly things in Korea, but overall we will be looking back at this past year as being fun and a great opportunity to make money and lots of friendships. With all its quirks Korea's not been such a bad place, -it just needs to be seen through a great sense of humor.
The secret to finding a good job is contacting those who enjoyed their contracts, comparing them with others, and once you are hired, you should keep a positive and flexible attitude. Most people respond in kind.
