I've taught in hagwan for 1 year now my second year I"m looking for public high school with co ed teaching and good vacation days. I think EPIK is my best bet, right? Can I negotiate the salary? (only say yes, if you have) They always say no which I don't believe them, of course. So how much should a 2nd year teacher get? And what words do I use to convince them, b/c whatever I say, they aren't buying. Thanks. |

No.
Unless you want to be payed less than what the levels dictate, in which case I'm sure you'll have no problems. |

Here are the EPIK pay guidelines:

It probably couldn't hurt to at least try negotiating. Tell them how great you are (if you really are) and why you deserve a raise (if you really do). |

No, you can't negotiate your EPIK salary the way you can in a hagwon. You can, however, make more money from doing camps, teacher's training, extra assigned work, etc. It's wishful thinking on your part.
I know of a very experienced teacher, with 20 years plus years teaching experience, who tried to negotiate a raise in his job level. He was turned down. EPIK has a strict set of guidelines for salary and level, which they follow.
Frankly, if you think that you're going to take EPIK by storm, you should re-think your plans and stay in the hagwon system. There are many teachers, probably with much better qualifications than you, who are frustrated, too. |

I don't work for EPIK or know what degrees or certifications that you have, but I will base this on what information that you provided. EPIK, like other ps systems have a starting pay scale that they adhere to. You don't negotiate it. This seems to be your scale based on what you provided.
Must have one of the followings
- Teacher's, TEFL/TESOL/CELTA(100+hrs) Certificate
- Education, English Education or English Language/Literature major
- BA degree plus 1 yr full-time English teaching experience
 MA degree in any discipline
$2,100
(2.0 million KRW) city
(2.1-2.35 million KRW) rural |

Another reason EPIK sucks. |
