I have a one room at the moment provided by my school, but spend no time there as am always at my boyfriends.

So, I want to ask my school to give me a housing allowance instead, and give up the one room. But not sure how much people usually get. I looked on the internet and it seemed to vary between 250,000-500,000.

Anyone know the usual amount? (i'm not in seoul)

Thanks!

Well, there isn't anything in my contract about it. But the people I work with are nice, and i don't think it'll be a problem. I just want to know what the average amount is I can ask them for this.

They haven't had any other foreign teachers before me....and are pretty flexible about stuff. But as they probably won't know what to give as housing allowance i need to be able to tell them what other people get.

The standard housing allowance for SMOE (seoul) is 500K/month.
For GEPIK (Gyeonngi) its 400K.
EPIK (rest of korea) is 300K. (I may be wrong on this one - but its either 300K or 400K).

Do with this information what you will.

Dont take the money because it`s better to have a backup place that is never used but still yours than slumming it in a motel cuz he dumped you, etc.
