I almost dont' want to make worksheets anymore.
Every time I make a worksheet, I have to go and file each worksheet in each students folder/notebook. Presumably, this is so that the school can show parents this nice notebook that has everything the kids have done this semester.
Unfortunately, the kids lose these worksheets, don't do their homework, don't turn it it, whatever.
When I started out, I would give it an effort...and then my boss would ask me why all the folders didn't have the all the worksheets for all of the students.
Have I mentioned that I friggin HATE filing!
Why can't the students just take the work home so that the parents can monitor their progress AS THEY PROGRESS?
Do all of these schools do this?
And if they do, do any of them make the students responsible for how nicely their folders are put together?
I HATE FILING! |

Professional teachers don't complain about these kinds of things. |

you shoulda seen my desk when i wuz a newspaper editor
piled high, organized in that i knew (roughly) which part of the desk a certain piece of paper was buried under
it took me 6-8 hours (no kidding!) once every two weeks to file away stuff
when i should've been doing it daily, ideally
(as a teacher i love the photocopier, so... i have a throw out pile, a recycle pile and a put--in-folder-n-shove-on-shelf file - i can't imagine having to keep student portfolios) |

Make it the responsibility of the students. If it's not in their file it their problem, not yours. |

totally. students do this - not the teacher. someone didn't tell you and probably doesn't want to now they see you doing it - for whatever weird reason. |
