So there are two things I want to buy, but don't know which one.

a cheap 120 Xbox360 with 20gig HDD and HDMI cable (I'm not interested in online play)

or an iRiver media player for abou 100

Just to let you know I alleady have a PS3 for my gaming needs, but there are a few RPG's and other games on 360 which I want to play.

I allready have a Nano and PSP but would like the iRiver because it does look damn cool and can replace my PSP in terms of video and Nano in terms of music.

Another thing to note, I'll be going Korea in a months time, I'll be taking ma PS3 with me, taking an Xbox aswell MIGHT be a bit tricky...

Thoughts guys?

Hm... could you sell your PSP, IPod Nano, and XBox 360, then buy both of them with the money left over? Or are you determined to keep your XBox? If I were you, I would either keep what I had and wait, or try selling all three on Ebay, then buying what I wanted. That way you'll have the two things you really want, and won't need to worry about the three you don't, plus you might have some extra money,

Sorry, in that case, I should have said to sell your Polystation Wink and buy the XBOX360. It's probably too late now, though.

You never sell things? Do you give them away.. or do you just end up with a house/suitcase/closet/parents' house filled with things you never use? Smile My philosophy is to get rid of as much as possible so that I'll have less to pack and move around.

No, it doesn't. With a modded ntsc-j box bought here, you can play ntsc-j/kor games and other games that are region-free. For example, there is no way you can play nhl 09 whether it was new or downloaded.

Here is an ntsc game that is playable in the us/can, japan, and some other asian countries...

p.s. Buy the XBox 360 after selling the PS3. Dump the iRiver and keep the PSP...if you haven't already modded it(assuming either 1005 or 2005), you should. You also didn't post about a lot of its other capabilities(ie. games, homebrew, studying via ebooks, internet surfing, etc.) Buy two or three 8Gb sandisks and you're set.

Interesting about modded Xbox...interesting and dissapointing if it's true. But chances are there are more than 1 chip available. I mean generally, in all consoles, getting your system chipped means you can play backup games regardless of region. If you can't do this with 360 then theres no point me getting it chipped only to play games in a language I don't understand, I'll need to do more research.

In regards to selling the PS3, it isn't happening, I like my PS3, as I stated in other posts I won' be selling any of my items.

The PSP I use just for games (theres very few games I play on PSP now).

And your talking about the capabilities of a PSP?...if so why would I want to post them lol?

WRT the PSP, you were talking Nano for music and the iRiver for movies. The PSP(I've found) does both of those just fine. Granted, I've used neither a Nano nor an iRiver(for movies anyway). If you want to lug around three different handhelds(plus your cellphone) to fulfill your electronic needs, I guess that's your choice. I still love my fat...it's still a nice little piece of electronic genius. I still use it nearly every day.

Back to the XBox 360. What you mentioned(bolded above) is not the case with the 360. Definitely not the case with the ps3(still not able to be modded, and I believe all games are region-free) or the psp 3005(not modded yet, but matiaz is working on that) either(and the Wii can still be a bit tricky depending on where you bought it). Most games have an asian release as well for the 360, but not all, like ea's nhl. However, recent releases of ea have been ntsc region-free(us/can, jap/kor, asia), so we'll have to see what they have on offer for their '10 release. When in doubt, buy the 2K version of nhl as their's is now region-free. You have to also realize that you have settings on your xbox 360 console. Even though you bought it in Kor, you set it to Eng(you'll also see that some games like LBP sold here for the ps3 will say "Korean", but will be completely functional in Eng - I was fooled into buying the "English" version from Play-asia). Many games are in Eng. I think I may've played ONE game in Korean, TWO in Japanese, and ONE in Chinese(Oblivion - which I gave up on quickly). If you mod it, you probably will be downloading from an Eng web-site anyway. You will also be looking for games playable on your particular box, and, no, that does not mean you will be able to play all games...that's the same if you bought your box in can, america, eng, or wherever. Sorry, that's the way it is.

You'll notice that a lot of those games, regardless of region, are region-free.

XBox 360s are down to 220,000 here now. With modding and an hdmi cable, you're looking at less than 300,000. Downloaded games will cost you a grand total of 3,000 each, and you CAN download MOST games for the Korean console. You name it, I probable have it. Can you say that with your ps3? No, probably not. Can I play nhl 08 or 09 on my XBox? No! But I can say "Yes!" in two weeks when a friend brings an American version back from holidays for me. AND, I'm still paying MUCH less overall. Again, your choice. Maybe you can have the best of both worlds. Again, what's so fantastic about the ps3? Remember, I was THIS close to buying one.

I should have been more clear from the start lol.

Firstly, I don't carry my PSP around with me. I know it's a portable console but I prefer playing a nice comfortable area. Before anyone has a go at me, to each their own, I'll do what I like with my PSP thankyou~

In regards to carrying items around with me, I hope to only carry around the iRiver and my mobile. I don't plan on watching feature length films on it, but maybe short episodes, trailers, clips which I find cool I can show to my friends. I'll be using it mainly for the music and I chose it also for the looks.

In regards to the 360 modding and game issue, I truly appreciate the info, many thanks to you.

In regards to 'what's so good about the ps3'. Honestly I'm no fanboy, I didn't buy it because anyone told me to or because of what I read. I've had a PS1, PS2, PSP and I've enjoyed what games the consoles given me, so it's only natural I'll follow my trend by getting a PS3. Now i'm not here to debate which console is better, if your looking for an argument please visit www.gametrailers.com and go to the forums, you'll get plenty of arguments there.

I like the 360 also, but I coun't afford to get both at the time, now things are looking better I will 80% purchase it once in Korea.

NHL 09 will not work on your NTSC-J console, so if your friend brings it back to you, it'll be a nice $60 coaster that you'll be paying for. Modding is great but it still doesn't defeat the region locking of certain games. Heck I sold my Korean console simply because I COULDN'T play NHL 08 last year and I've never been happier. It was a pain in the ass having to get a co-worker's boyfriend to get me an American console off of the U.S. base but in the long run I'm a happy camper.

Sorry, I meant to say that he's bringing both the console and the game for me.

If your used to having 3 houses all with wardrobes you might be in for a bit of a surprise while living in Asia. Lol.

But I always try to travel light. I say if you want a 360, buy it here. It will be a pain trying to carry your living room in a suit case when first get here after a long flight.
