Korean Convicted of Raping Filipino Wife!
http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2009/01/113_37965.html
Quote: |
A provincial court Friday convicted a Korean man of raping his wife in the first such case in the nation's legal history, Yonhap News reported.
The Busan District Court sentenced the 42-year-old man, identified only by the first initial of his surname "L," to a 30-month prison term suspended for three years on charges of forcibly having sex with his Filipino wife at knifepoint.
In 2004, a district court found a Seoul man guilty of sexually assaulting his wife. But this latest ruling marks the nation's first judicial conviction of a man on marital rape charges.
"The defendant should have treated his wife with affection, because she has difficulties in speaking Korean and feels lonely in this remote foreign country. His behavior cannot be acceptable as he threatened his wife with a gas gun and knife to have sex against her will," the Busan court was quoted as saying in its verdict.
The man was also accused of forcing his 25-year-old wife to have sex even during her menstrual period. He married his Philippine wife in 2006 through an international marriage broker in Korea and was indicted last year on charges of rape. |
Finally justice in Korea.... What's that at the end?
Quote: |
The court said it suspended his sentence for three years as he expressed remorse for his misconduct. It also noted the victim was held responsible for failing to make efforts to communicate with her husband and to adjust to Korean culture.
|
Oh for Christ's sake! The court finds the foreigner responsible for her rape?!!!

I don't care what anyone says. Korea is the best country in the world. How could anyone argue against that point??????? |

Did you honestly expect anything that remotely resembles "the right thing" to come from this? I mean, we all know that they don't care about foreigners for the most part. |

Well, the headline did throw me off. "Korean Convicted of Raping Filipino Wife" gives you the idea of justice being served.
The judge saying,"His behavior cannot be acceptable as he threatened his wife with a gas gun and knife to have sex against her will." This gives you the illusion that there is reason in Korea.
The Korean man felt "remorse" so all is forgiven. All sense of justice and reason leaves Korea. |

Wow, it started out sounding like justice, then it turned out to be a big fat "**** you" to the wife. I feel very bad for her. Anyone that blame rape on the victim is twisted. The best thing she could do is get on a plane and go home. |

Can't wait to go out and commit some crimes. Then I'll simply "express remorse".
Just kidding, that would only work with a Korean national, which I am not. |

Their dumb system worked in my favor once. So I can't say it's totally biased. But, then again the Korean that I was up against ridiculed and berated the cops for hours during the paperwork in the police station so I believe that and the testimony of my Korean friend helped me win that one. All in all, it's lame. |

I guess the lesson we can all learn is that if the wife had bothered to learn Korean culture she wouldn't have been raped I guess. |

This and other recent rulings provides an unparalleled opportunity to promote Korean rape culture, and perhaps even make Korea a world hub for rape. The other 'hub' projects have failed to succeed so far, but I'm sure this could really take off. |

What annoys me is the Korea Times' headline. Now, I'm no journalist but you'd think "Convicted rapist given suspended sentence" would be an appropriate headline.
But no... Korea Times runs with this pearl:
"Korean Convicted of Raping Filipino Wife"
That's not the story here, you freakin morons!
Jesus... |

If she had slit his throat with the knife but then 'felt remorse' I wonder what would have happened?
I also wonder what their divorce settlement will look like. |
