Personally, I'm leaning more towards Farscape these days. It had great costumes, characters, acting and plot lines. It had some stand alone episodes, but mostly focused on a larger story arc. Also, it didn't take it self too seriously. |

Your list fails because you failed to put Firefly which beats all all of the above. |

It might help voters, if you provided the full acronym titles:
Star Trek: The Original Series = ST TOS
Star Trek: the Next Generation = ST TNG
Star Trek: Voyager = ST VOY
Deep Space 9 = ST DS9
Babylon 5 = B5
Battlestar Galactica = BG
Any reason for the omission of Voyager? 7 of 9 was hot! |

I didn't include Voyager because I didn't think anyone liked it more than The next Generation or Deep Space 9. Also, didn't include Firefly because I completely forgot about it, but it's only like 5 episodes and in my opinion not that great.

I finally got my wife hooked on Firefly, and I concur that it is the best, on the basis of the average episode, series of all. However, it had a disappointingly short run, and when they found out the show was being cancelled they went into a self-indulgent depressing period.
However, I'm going to have to write in my answer: The Time Tunnel. |

Is there any way to edit the poll once it's been posted? |

I thought seven choices was good enough, but in order to please everyone, I would need to list 40 or so possible series. I think five different star trek series is a bit excessive to include, especially since only about 1% actually prefer voyager or enterprise to the first three series. Red Dwarf is a sitcom. While it has a sci-fi setting, it's not really in the same category as the other shows. Quantum Leap?? Come on. Should I have included TekWar too? What about Andromeda or Knight Rider? |

Where does this 1% statistic come from? I really liked Enterprise. Also, since when are sitcoms not series?
Knight Rider was a good show. Also, The Six million Dollar Man, X-Files and so on... |

The Outer Limits was a great Sci FI series I watched as a kid. There was a so-so Canadian remake, in the 90's.

If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat, there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to... The Outer Limits." |

Hard to say. I loved them all. I would say Babylon 5 affected me the most, it was more than a sci-fi show, and taught me a lot about life. TNG would come in a close tie for me. After that, Farscape and BSG. |

The 1% doesn't come from anywhere, I've just never heard anyone say they prefer enterprise to TNG. I should've included X-files, but I pretty much just listed the first series that came to mind when I posted.
I'm not saying Red Dwarf isn't good because it's a sitcom, just that because it's a sitcom, there are different sets of criteria for evaluating it.
There's also a limit to the number of Poll Options, so keep that in mind. I believe the limit is ten, so if I include all of the Star Trek series, that's half of the options.

Well, you can't just make up statistics.
Without picking a fight here, it seems like you already have decided what the best is and you made your 'poll' fit your own highly limited view of quality programming. That is not really fair to others, especially older guys who might like drama over effects.
Perhaps about 50% of the readers of this poll are older guys. Or maybe it is closer to 56%.
I think Enterprise was the absolute best Star Trek franchise and Voyager was second best. DS9 is dead last in my opinion.
I want to change my vote. I vote X-Files. Although, technically it is more of a 'fantasy' series than Sci-Fi, it did have many episodes that were Sci-Fi based. |

Where's Stargate SG-1 and SGA on the list? Those are better than any of those shows, except possibly TNG. |
