|
|
So, I'm going to be in Seoul for the next 5 days, and I'm hoping to find a decent love motel to base myself out of during that time, and I'm looking for recommendations.
Since I'll be there for so long, I'd prefer a somewhat cheaper place rather than an expensive one (more like $35 rather than $60), but I don't want to be in an extremely seedy place either. I'm going to be visiting a lot of different areas in Seoul, so a place that is near a good metro stop is a bonus.
Yes, I know there are a million places in Seoul, but that's just the thing - I am looking for personal recommendations here. |

Bump
If you can't be specific, can anyone at least recommend a good area? |

Uh, did you not notice that I asked for recommendations of areas? I live way down south - I don't know Seoul very well at all. |

Dude WHY would you want to stay at one of those overpriced crapholes? They're for QUICKIES, NOT for staying. People stay in those rooms all of the time and trash them. Plus, all you'll hear is people bumping uglies, bedsprings bouncing, and drunk morons yelling.
Go to a REAL hotel. |

I stayed in a Love Motel for a month with my gf to save on costs. it only costed 300k Won for 30 days. It was near the Bucheon station. It was owned by an old lady and her husband. We didn't see any other customers(implying that they aren't seen easily, not that there aren't any). There was no internet though. But they did clean the bathroom bi weekly and replace towels every two days.
There were tons, but not on the same side as the traditional farmers market. The motels are on the opposite side of the station from that market. You head out and turn right then walk down like 6 blocks through the maller alley ways, they are all before you hit big main street. If you are interested in the same one because you want to cut down on costs all I can say is the sign outside looked like an orange flame |

last month i stayed at 'techno motel' in seoul. it was a little run down but it was clean, safe and cost about 35,000 a night (i stayed four nights). like i said, it wasn't the newest place but it was clean, everything worked and it was comfortable. the old lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful and despite the fact that neither of us spoke the other's language, it went rather well.
my recommendation is this: go to seoul, hop on the subway, get off at jongro 3- ga. it is an interchange and on the 1, 3 and 5 lines. it is only a few stops from seoul station so it is very convenient. once you get off at that stop, go out exit 1- go up the stairs of exit 1 and just go straight when you exit the stairs. you will start seeing signs for motels almost immediately. if you leave the subway, walk straight from the stairs and walk for about a minute you will come to a street crossing- not a major road, just a small one. taking a right so that you u-turn into the alley that runs about parallel to the sidewalk you were just on, you will be around 7 or so different motels. the first one you come to on the left is super expensive. i don't remember the name but they had a really really really long interior walkway to get to the front desk and it looked like walking through a rainforest because of the deco. don't go there unless you want to pay 65,000 a night. if you continue straight for another few hundred feet there will be a short alley to the left with a few motels, techno motel is down that alley on the left near the end- it has christmas lights around the entrance. there is also another motel right next to it you could check out (i didn't).
if you weren't to make the u-turn and keep going straight, there are some more motels right after the first major street you cross. i stayed at one of them three years ago and it was also good.
it's a bit long but i hope this is helpful, if you want more info or details, just ask! |

When my dad come to Seoul I put him up at a Love Motel in the Sadang Subway area. There is a strip with about 5-6 of them. You can go in and look around before you decide you want to stay there. We just checked out the 2 nicest looking places and picked the cleanest place that had what he wanted. They have computer access with internet, large screen tvs, small fridge, air conditioning and queen size beds.
I am not sure what it cost...but I do know we got a deal because he was going to stay for a week. They also have a floor where more "long term" people stay, so he wasn't on the same floor as the quickies. |

If you're looking to stay in the Jamsil area (southeast Seoul), there's a strip of them near Sincheon station (신천역). Just come out of exit 4, take the first left (at the McDonalds) and then the first left after that. There will be many hotels down that street. I've never been inside any, but some of them look nicer than others. |

My wife and I stayed in a newer Bobos chain love motel, and they had a light that wouldn't turn off. No switch! They didn't want people sleeping in there and staying the whole night. I made them come up and disconnect it, which they sheepishly did. |

Near Sinchon rotary I heard that there are a few. A friend stayed in one and said that there was a flat screen TV, internet and hot tub for 60,000. So if you walk around a bit or ask a cab driver you should be fine. Also, I love how your simple question got you advice about love hotels you never wanted or asked for. Gotta love the peanut galleries. |
