I started using Winamp about.. 10 years ago? I don't know when exactly but it wasn't far off there. It was a tiny program which played my CDs and the occasional .wav I'd ripped off of my CDs and my 250mb hard drive could hold. Before MP3s were well known.
Now? Holy shit that program has gone to shit. It is now massive and takes a good 20 seconds to start. Furthermore it has all kinds of useless crap in it. It really sucks now compared to what it used to be.
Any recommendations for a tiny music player which starts instantly and doesn't mess around with ads and video and all that crap?
I want a programn which DOESN'T have a 'media library' or any similar bullshit. I want to choose what I play by file or directory without it trying to second guess me first loading up stuff and searching stuff when I didn't ask it to. |

VLC media player is tiny, basic and doesn't have a media library. It works well for video files too. Quick loading.

You can download old versions of winamp. Just do a google search for old versions.
Winamp was purchased by someone several years back, because it was becoming too much of a competitor. It's been crap ever since. |

I created a Winamp icon used by the software development team when it was in the 1.x version range. |
