Where's a good bar a lone girl can go to for a quiet drink on her own, yet not feel too much like a loser? I think tonight may become one of those nights where a girl wants to be alone and lose herself in her drink without anyone asking stupid questions.. But I don't want to feel like a freak on display for *gasp* coming to a bar alone..

Around Gangnam station, though anywhere around Gangnam/Yeoksam/Seoulleung or Samsung'll do. Or around Seohyeon station in Bundang.. (preferably Gangnam though!)

Sorry, I'm just not used to going around at night hence my asking around here...

Woodstock This bar is crusty as hell and the bathroom stinks. Nonetheless its really fun to go to on a friday or saturday night. Unlike most Korean bars they don't seat everybody in their own seperate little groups so its a good place to meet people.

Go down the main road in Shinchon towards Yonsei. Take a left at the Pizza Hut. Go past one alleyway and take a left at the next. On your left

It's kind of a hole, but they play just about anything on request and the bartenders and owner don't constantly interject themselves if you're sitting at the bar. On the whole though, not sure how much luck you'll have sitting alone, it's hard enough to do that as a foriegn guy in Korea, on a Sunday or Monday night, might be dead enough.

Dublin in Seohyeon, might be doable on a Monday or Tuesday, you can just tell the bartenders, in a friendly way, you're not interested in talking. Directions to that place are all over the net.

peace

There's Woodstock in Gangnam too. Pretty much the same as the Sincheon one. You can sit at the bat quite comfortably, choose songs, chat to the female owner.

Go out exit 6, walk straight for a couple of hundred metres. Turn left at Giordano. Go down that street for 50m then turn right at dunkin donuts. Walk another 20 metres, it's on your left on the third floor.

It doesn't open until about 6:30 though.

Why not just search the alleys for the most hidden/empty bar? There are hundreds of them in Gangnam.

...but they're dark and gross. You feel like you're having an affair.

I may be a bit late getting this out, but Uncle 29 had a good bar to belly up to a year ago. Or behind Mr. Pizza on the other side of the boulevard there was a nice western-style bar that you might not get bothered in too much.

...or you can pick up some hooch from the off-license and stay home if you really don't want to risk the scrutiny. No shame either way.

She wants a quiet bar where she can sit alone and have no one bother her. And you guys are suggesting Woodstock? I was there on Friday night and I could barely move and being a non-smoker almost choked to death on the cigarette smoke. It's small and crusty and I've never really liked it. I hate the fact that my friends like to go there. They play good music though.

There are lots of hole in the wall bars around Gangnam where you can just sit and have a couple of quiet drinks by yourself. You don't need someone to point you in the right direction. They're all over the place. Just get away from the main carnival street behind Pagoda.

Walk up the main street toward Nonhyeon Station, past the Kyobo Building. There are lots of little hole in the wall places on the second and third floors of the buildings there. I remember going to one opposite the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf /Calvin Klein building one night when I just wanted to have a drink and read a book by myself. But there are lots of others.

Well, my favorite was probably S. Wine. It's a wine bar with a bar you can actually sit at. It's out of exit 7, next to the Olympus camera shop. I've gone there to chill, but have had great random conversations too.
