Man, can't wait to go boarding, but where's a good place with a good selection of boards with brands from the States and Europe too.

I see a lot of places selling boards near the ski resorts but the selection isn't as good as I thought that they would be. I just want to gwak at some cool boards before settling or being realistic, so some high end places and some good priced places please.

I kinda want to get a good board jacket with some good vents and a decent hood. Suggestions for those too?

The street between Yeoksam Station (line 2) and Hakdong Station (line 7) also called the 차병원사거리 area would be your best bet. a line of loads of shops for winter sports.

If you know what you want I suggest buying online.

Go into naver.com and type in snowboard (스노우보드) and this will give you a list of snowboard shops: http://dir.naver.com/dir.php?id=/Leisure_and_Sports/Winter_Sports/Ski_and_Snowboard/Supplies&start=0

I was in the same situation as you last year that I really wanted to upgrade my board. Did a lot of searching on US sites getting reviews on the brands and types that I was interested. I also compared prices in the States and here and in some cases were similar in cost.

I can't remember the exact site that I bought my board but this is the one that I got last year but only paid 300,000won for it http://www.nowstyle.co.kr/shop/goods/goods_view.php?goodsno=1005&category=001011002

If you have the time, can read Korean and patient enough to navigate the sites you can really find some good deals out there.

Good luck.

sigmundsmith, what US sites did you visit for your boards? I kinda wanna see what's all out there too, and I guess I should. I have done a search some too, but just curious what you were looking at too.

Looked at:

http://www.boardzone.com

http://www.the-house.com/

http://boardersmall.com/

But there are many more sites you can check out. Like I said do a comparison and spend a bit of time searching the Korean sites (check the link that I posted).

To give you a better idea. Last winter I decided to upgrade the whole package: board (free cover), boots and bindings.

The board is in the previous post:

Boots: http://www.the-house.com/bt2mo08wh8zz-burton-boots.html (paid 127,000won)

Bindings: http://www.the-house.com/bt1cu02bk9zz-burton-snowboard-bindings.html (paid 135,000won)

So total of about 560,000won.

But this took weeks of searching for the best prices. You can get some real cheap packages though if you look. I've seen packages for about 350,000won for the lot but the quality of board, boots and bindings are not really up to par.

Hope this helps. Good hunting.

I splurged a bit and bought a Burton T6 at about the retail price of $799 in US but paid 750k won for it, which is pretty good with the exchange rate as it is. http://www.burton.com/Gear/Default.aspx#/gear/productdetail/mens/boards/10434/206928000159/

I took it for a ride at Vivaldi Park over the weekend and it is friggin fast Shocked Shocked Shocked

allowing me to go at medium level difficulty speeds at beginner level slopes and mid-advanced speeds at medium level slopes. I was going so fast on even the medium difficulty slopes that I didnt have the huevos to try the board on mid-advanced (I faked a sprained ankle and had a patrol dude give me a ride down the slope on his gurney Rolling Eyes ). The thing is light as air too. If I could do 360s, I would have no problem doing it on this board with it being so light.

It carves like crazy taking minimum effort to go into a grove. I had checked out a lot of makes, and since I was going to go with a board for a few years or more, I wanted to try out the legendary Burton boards. I was kicking myself for splurging but after my first runs, I got my moneys worth. The Vapor Burton board is listed retail at U$999.95, but Im not a pro and not that advanced yet to try such a magnificent creature. If the Vapor is better than the T6, Good God! Shocked

Now if I can just get my ball-and-chain to let me go for a ride again soon! We go skiing as a family but not nearly as often as I like during a season. Grr Laughing
