You won't find white water boating in Korea, not like we think about in the Rocky Mountains.

I went on a "white water" rafting trip on the Hantan River with Adventure Korea 2 years ago. It was high water due to rain and I still could have navigated it in a canoe.

Yeeee Haww,

Take me to the river, push me in the water.

I do love canoeing/kayaking/rafting, but I heard that everything in Korea is pretty tame. been here three years and never gone though. scared off by stories that they won't let you swim, except in designated areas and hell, I couldn't even enjoy the beach in Jeju without bumping elbows and arses with the Koreans and putting up with an endless stream of lifeguard whistles.

I have to agree. I went whitewater rafting here several years ago. (I can't remember the name of the river.) I've been rafting quite a few times back in the States, and this was NOTHING like it. First, they made you do push ups and jumping jacks to warm up. Then, when you get in the water, they let you go through one rapid (weak) and then pull over to the side and let you rest. REST!! So weird. Looking back, I am grateful that we stopped, because another rafting group was there, were climbing to the top of a cliff and jumping into the river. At first our guide said, "It is impossible! It is too dangerous." After a few minutes though, he changed his mind, and let 4 of us (only 4 mind you) do it as well. I jumped at the opportunity. I think that jumping was the highlight of the day. lol The rest of the rapids were still weak.

If you do go, I hope that you find a river worth doing.
