I drink a LOT of water. Luckily my local supply is clean; cleaner than most bottled water.

What about Korean water? Yes?

No! It's okay to brush your teeth w/ it but it's not to be drunk. But, I would imagine that some older Koreans do... Very Happy

The tap water is gross. I don't even use it for making soup or boiling pasta!

No way!! Did you get the parasite pill that they sell in the drugstore? Man...you know the water is bad when the natives don't touch it with a stick. You will never see a Korean willingly drink a big glass of tap water.

---Note: Buddy, those eight years of drinking tap water may not have done you a favor. Chemicals and heavy metal accumulate in body tissue. The parasites in the water are not a joke..

Incorrect. Depending on where you live, and the age of the building around you, you can have any number of contaminants in your tapwater.

Look at that old building next to your place. Imagine the rusted out old pipes there. Then imagine how that water is the same one being fed into your building.

Get the picture?

BTW, boiling does not eliminate heavy metals and contaminants.

I've lived in buildings in the US built in 1911, 1923, 1932, etc., and consistently, the water has tested safer than bottled water that biffy and deb buy. I'm more concerned with the Korean water purification plants than the pipes in buildings built in the 1960's and 70's, to tell the truth.

If SK uses magic and shamanism to purify their water supply, I guess I'll be a debbie. If they have anything close to what the west has in their water purification plants, I'll gulp it up.

Any engineer/ science types? US B.A. guys have more imagination than energy to channel into that kind of research......me included, of course.

DENG!

Younger generation Koreans won't drink tap water anywhere. I knew a guy in his 30's that lived in England for a few years and would always complain if a restaurant served him tap water.

Same thing in Canada, every Korean I've known won't drink the tap water.

Generally speaking, the water is fine to drink. However, I do drink bottled water. I boil tap water for coffee, pasta etc. Tap water here is within safe levels of contaminants.

I once knew a guy who used bottled water for everything in Korea...and he only bought Evian!!!
