couldn't see a problem with that.. they must give you exact money when leaving... coming in i have noticed they won't change japanese coins but when i leave they give me the exact amount - it should be the same with usd |

I at first thought this said "small balls" and prepared myself to read yet another attack on Asian tackle. |

Although 'small balls' are an interesting topic what I really need to know is if I can get not just a little change but quite a few $1 and $5 dollar bills which are much more useful when travelling in poor countries than big $20's. But by all means, if someone can help me out whilst talking about small balls thats fine by me! |

you probably know this already, but you get the best exchange rate on US $100 bills. hands down. with that said, you need to be careful and carry a combination of finances (cash, credit card, atm, travelers checks). travelers checks are great in emergencies but they always rape you on the exchange. |

Their next letter will cost more in postage. |

I am not talking massive amounts of small notes but I know that even back in NZ trying to get smaller denominations to carry round Africa posed a bit of trouble. Often its handy to have $1 and $5 to pay for purchases in markets, etc. And if you are only passing thru a country you don't want to change a whole lot of dollars into the local currency. I know I could probably get them from a local bank but changing at the airport seemed so much easier. |

Cambodia is another place to carry small US bills. You can use them anywhere and nobody has enough to change anything large. Sometimes a ten could even be a problem. |

Actually Cambodia is one of the places I am going this time. Really regretted not having enough smaller bills while travelling thru Africa and don't want to make the same mistake again. Seeing as no one seems to know if they will give out more than just change I am gonna have to go to a local bank and try and explain it to them there - |

In Cambodia I was carrying 3 currencies, all of which were accepted there. I don't remember using Thai currency in the capital but it's certainly accepted in Angkor. (and probably elsewhere) I actually paid an internet bill there using all 3 currencies once. |
