are people out partying for the lunar new year? or is this more of a time to be spent with family and such? i assume many foreigners are out for a few drinks this weekend, either way. so are there any bars or places in particular to check out in seoul over the long weekend?
and regardless of whether or not i should expect some big party, are there any big gathering places where koreans celebrate in some traditional way?
any information is much appreciated. thanks. |

It depends on where you live. Remember, too, that this is a 3 day holiday, but REALLY you can add Friday and Saturday as travel days.
In Seoul, there are some places that will be open. Seoul Tower is open every day of the year. I saw that Home Plus will be open every day, including Monday (eith special hours). |

Go to the Wolfhound in Itaewon, grab a free book, drink some draft
ale, eat fish and chips.
or
Go to the Seoul Pub, meet some drunk lifers.
or
Go to 3 Alley, kind of in between 1 and 2
PS: If you live anywhere except Seoul you are S.O.O.L. |

| I'm thinking Sunday might a good day to shop - I imagine the big stores will be quite empty, with most folks having left Seoul on Saturday. |
