Hello, my wife and I need to get 2 cell phones when we arrive next week. Not sure what company to go with. Has anyone had any good experiences with a particular cell phone provider. We are hoping to have phones that have an internet address. I am not sure if they are available like in Japan.
Thank you.. |

Until you get your alien registration card (ARC) the ONLY option is prepaid service.
There are 3 companies to choose from and for prepaid service they are all the same in terms of service and pricing.
Phones are locked into the service provider so find the phone of your choice and away you go. |

its going to suck for a few days, but I'll recommend this:
1. Basically land, drop off your bags, go apply for your ARC card, you'll get it in around 10 days.
2. In the meantime if you desperately need a phone and wherever you're staying doesn't have a land line, grab skype. Skype has skype out calling in Korea, put a few bucks on it and you can call places if you really need to.
3. As soon as you get your ARC card go get a bank account and a phone, you should be able to do it all in the same day.
Getting something with a plan is far and above better than the prepaid here, and the few days of inconvenience of not having one is worth it in the long run. Make sure the phone you get has a dictionary on it (surprisingly not all of them do) and any other bells and whistles you want. |
