|
|
Hi
I have a laptop PC and I want to output its display to my TV. Unfortunately the only display output port on my laptop is the SVGA port to plug an external monitor into (the 15-pin variety. My laptop has no S-Video or RCA outputs.
My TV only has RCA inputs (no S-Video or SVGA inputs).
Here in Korea, is it possible to get an adapter to convert an SVGA/VGA signal to a simple video signal that can be plugged into the back of my TV?
Also, I only have 2 audio sockets on my laptop - one is for the microphone, and the other is for headphones. Would the headphone socket on my laptop output the audio to my TV correctly? (Since the TV's audio system isn't a pair of headphones). My TV does have stereo audio input.
thanks |

Yongsan sells all the types of wires you'll need. first you'll need a male end to go into your laptop for headphones and the other end left/right audio. those are easy to find. also you'll be able to find the video plug. Just see what plugs you'll need for each machine and buy the right ones.
You'll might have to buy anywhere from 2-4 types depending if they carry the right connections you're looking. |

after you have connected also make sure to go to your desktop properties which is done by right clicking anywhere on the screen not inhabited by an icon and choosing properties. Go to the monitor tab and select extend my desktop to get multiple monitor action. Most PC laptops have hot keys as well for doing the extend. Mine is function key + F4. Some are different though. |

If you have a Hi-Mart in your area, they also stock a lot of different cables. You might check there first. |

I once got a cable converter thing to output from my latptop to a TV. I have to say though that in my experience its not worth messing around without at least Svideo.
Just find any computer store and ask for what you want (tv out). Bring in your laptop if you are in a really no englishee situation. |

Hi, thanks. Well i checked like 3 different stores yesterday, and nothing. I think the problem here is that most TVs sold here in Korea of at least average quality are the flatpanel ones and they all seem to have RGB input. My budget TV in my apartment is neither, it's a CRT and just has component video input.
My laptop seems to be on the budget side too, as it doesn't have a s-video output or HDMI output, just an RGB port to plug an external PC monitor into.
I know the gadget I want; I've seen it used in outputting a PC display to a projector screen. There's got to be one somewhere in a city of 1.1million! |
