Bob Cesca is reporting Rush's newest addition to our national discourse:

"For starters, Rush Limbaugh -- the de facto leader of the Republican Party -- said on his show Tuesday that the entire economic meltdown was actually precipitated by a conspiracy between George Soros and a cabal of billionaire liberals who deliberately sought to sabotage the world economy in order to get Barack Obama elected.

He, of course, has no real evidence for this, other than what the shadow people told him while he was tweaking his TV remotes.

Okay, so I made up the part about the shadow people, but the rest is seriously what Limbaugh was telling his audience of dittoheads yesterday."

Maybe we need a poll on this one. How many weeks, days or hours will it be before someone posts this 'theory' as fact here? I bet under a month.

The meltdown is pretty funny.
I've been checking in with Drudge on a regular basis almost since his site's inception in the 90's--before he made a noticeable right turn.
Lately even he has been posting increasingly desperate bits in the guise of "headlines".

Here's an interesting statistic: After only 3 Republicans were found to support the stimulus bill....'Research 2000 polling for Daily Kos conducted last week found that favorability ratings for congressional Republicans were an abysmal 21 percent, compared to 68 percent unfavorable.'

That's even worse than Bush's popularity at his lowest.

Compare that with: 'A national Gallup poll conducted Feb. 6-7 found that 67 percent of respondents approve of the way Obama has handled efforts to pass the stimulus package, while just 25 percent disapprove.'

I wonder why that is? Maybe it's connected to this: 'So here's my question: How come way back when, when the Dixie Chicks casually commented that, on the night our former president declared an unprovoked war, that they felt, at that moment "ashamed to be from Texas," they were declared heretic, traitors, their records were burned, and they were practically tarred and feathered right of the airwaves. Yet when Rush Limbaugh says he "hopes Obama fails," he is considered by millions the quintessential patriot?'
