I have an account with Hana bank. Will I be able to access my money from my bank while in Japan?
Ideally I would like to transfer my money from hana to a japanese account when I get one. But before that happens I was wondering if my atm card would work? |

when i went to japan last year....due to a combination of problems I ended up having to go to the KEB (my bank in Korea) office in Osaka. it looked like they were going to be able to wire the money from my korean account over to the osaka branch but at the last minute they said it couldnt be done. result: I wasn't able to withdraw any money from KEB even though i had an account with them, because I was outside Korea.
I would try and get all you money out before you go, its quite normalfor people to carry a lot of cash in japan anyway, the crime rate is low. |

| Only KEB has offices outside of Korea, and that's in limited countries. I doubt you'll be able to find Hana Bank anywhere. |

| Shinhan has a branch in Fukuoka. If exchanging Won for Yen, they have the best rates in town. Location details upon request. |

| Withdraw it all and wait til you get the Japanese ARC then open an account for Bank of Mitsubishi, etc. or get someone you really trust to transfer it to you in Japan. |

That would be great! Does that mean I can access my money in Japan if I have Shinhan bank? Can you send me the details because I cannot pm yet. |

The branch is located kitty-corner from Nishitetsu Grand Hotel in Tenjin on Showa Dori. It's in the building next to the Okinawa Shop, on the 8th floor. As for accessing your money, they do not have an ATM (that I recall seeing) but as a bank, you may be able to withdraw at the counter. Good luck.
Additionally, 7-11 convenience stores have ATMs that accept several bank cards from Korea including Woori Bank. However, this is very misleading as when I tried to use my Woori Bank card, it read 'invalid'. I believe the ATMs just accept Cirrus and Plus so if you have that on your Korean bank card, you're GTG. Very misleading. |
