Best thing to do is go to the hotel office in the airport and tell them you want a budget place. They won't do any scams on you like in other countries.
Actually you might end up with a bargain if things are quiet. Still expect to pay around 80-100 U.S. for a cheap place. |

You can always stay at a hostel. I have, in fact, previously stayed a week at the Dragon Inn Hostel. It was only 17 Singapore dollars per night.
If you want to stay at a hotel instead of a hostel, then the cheapest part of Singapore is in Geylang, but that is also the red-light district. However, the Geylang area is still worth considering because it also has a lot of great places to eat at. |

| Cheapest hotels are in Geylang, as Konglishman said. Even then, you are looking at around 70 US a night. Still, a very colorful neighbourhood indeed. |

Hotel 88

a chain of low budget hotels in various areas of singapore ( including redlight areas so some of the 'guests' are sketchy) rooms are ok.
