Go to Koreatown in L.A. and you'll see why.

Not that I agree with the stereotype--most of my kyopo friends from L.A. are great--but it's not exactly sparkling Korea down there.

i'm from ktown in la and i have my own prejudices against the korean girls that live there. my friends and i lovingly refer to them as, "the typical k-town crowd."

any given person in a typical k-town crowd will:

1. stare you down from head to toe if you're remotely attractive. (in other words, a threat)

2. carry around a designer bag but will not have a job.

3. only like you if you have a mutual friend.

4. drop f-bombs in every sentence.

5. be whiny about any hardship to come their way.

are these the typical features of a la kyopo that give them a bad rep over there?

I met a couple of dudes in Itaewon yesterday.

For the longest time I thought they were hip-hop dudes from Mexico....

I seriously thought they were from Mexico.

I was in Kangnam station about a month ago, waiting for a friend. I noticed about four Koreans next to me, and something was odd. They were all dressed up, but their clothes actually looked nice. No hideous horse-riding boots, no clothes that screamed "'80s", no shining suits, whatever. I thought, "Yeah, they're probably Kyopos." Ha-ha, I was right.

Kyopos are alright. I just don't like listening to how most of the women talk. "Like, OMG, I got like, SO drunk the other night? And, like, some guy was rubbing up against me on the, like, dance floor, and I was, like, 'whatever!' it was totally, like, NOT cool!" It's bad enough when white chicks talk that way, but it's more painful when I hear it from an Asian; I don't know why.

Most La kyopo guys who are dicks.. are criminals running from LA, their worried sick mothers sent them to korea to try and save their lives!
or the government kicked them out of the country...

they want to be cool!! they bring that thug attitude here and walk around like they are hot shit and part of a gang, so you better check yourself!!

I've visited once and never look back.
I used to read HanKook Ilbo ( The Korean Times ) from Los Angeles, it's depressing.
So many korean become victims from black, Chinese, Vietnames gangs.
It's like urban war zone.

I know what you mean. There was this white girl in my district that talked just like that. We were at a teachign workshop and she was talking like:

"Like, the kids totally need to learn English. Like, half of the kids, like, don't know any English. So like, I need to teach and stuff. Like, its completely like, counter-productive or whatever. Like, you know what I mean."

She said "like" a million times with that valley girl voice. I seriously wanted to punch her in the mouth. I didn't though.

I remember people used to talk like that in middle school. I didn't realize grown-ups talked like that. I guess they do in Cali.

It's not just Cali girls that talk that way. I've been surrounded by girls like that my entire life. In fact, I think most girls I encountered in college talked that way.

I think its unexcusable for someone that has graduated college to speak like that.

Thats like guys talking like Beavis from Beavis and Butthead. I did meet a 30 year old who talked like Beavis. It was like:

"Ummm....heh heh heh. Cool. heh heh heh. AHHH!!!! YOU ARE A BUNGHOLE! Bungholio! heh heh heh.......umm.... yeah yeah."

Why did you quote something I didn't say?

No shit it's inexcusable. I was just informing him that California isn't the only place where dipshits live.
