I currently wear Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear Plus. I'll be in Korea if things go well in a couple of weeks. I plan on bringing a few extra boxes with me, but does anyone with contact lens knowledge know if that particular brand is readily available in Seoul? These are lenses that are disposable, sleep in for up to a week -- but my last visit to a new optometrist told me that as long as I lubricated the lenses with a good over the counter wetting solution I could keep them in longer. I have, and no dire effects of massive eye infections. Although, I would imagine in Korea the air pollution is hardly stellar, and they might have to come out weekly. Also, can I bring in my current prescription (that might be as good as the paper it's written on - as in not), or just hand in my empty boxes to get refills?

That's what I wear, and I've never had any trouble finding them. I never wear them overnight and I live far away from Seoul where pollution isn't a problem, but yellow dust might give you problems with longer wear. I've been charged 25,000 to 30,000 won for a box, and all I do is hand them an empty box or tell them the prescription. Be careful to check the box(es) before you pay though, as I didn't the first time and didn't see until I got home that they'd given me a significantly different base curve size.

I wear acuvue 2's (i don't think they make them anymore) and i only brought 3 extra pair. I don't plan on buying any while i'm over here and i never take mine out (willfully). A korean told me that the eye "doctors" here aren't actually doctors like they are in the US. They are just trained technicians (i assume like a 2 year associates graduate). If you have your prescription, you can just take it to one and find the kind you need, i don't think any korean companies make contacts...so it should all be familiar. I'm in Seoul, and the pollution/dust/air hasn't really bothered me. Just a little dry..

Thanks for the replies. I've been wearing contact lenses since I was 16 years old (we won't say how many years that has been:). I have been through so many brands throughout the years, along with the technology. I love these contacts, in that as much as Johnson & Johnson is a rapist pharmaceutical company (end of rant), these contacts work. I currently live in Arizona, USA, and the climate is dry. That's why I have to lubricate the eyes. But these contacts do work for overnight sleeping. I like the idea of seeing where I'm walking the minute I wake up without trying to find the glasses,

I also switch back and forth to eyeglasses when my eyes just need a rest.

Not to offend any of my American friends (I'm a Yank), but I loved socialized medicine in England. Never did me any harm for my needs. Then, I never had any life health issues as well -- just the normal wear and tear of getting the prescribed antibiotics.
