"Officially" you're supposed to get 2 weeks vacation in winter, and 2 weeks in summer, right?
However, I was told you usually get much more than that. Is that true or false? |

I signed up with smoe for this year, contract says 21 days. Meaning you get 21 days, IF the principal decides to be kind you MAY get extra time.
But don't count on it. That way if by chance you get such a nice school you'll be pleasantly surprised. |

21 days is correct... However when you're able to take them is up to your school...
For example, I negociated a teacher training program with my school to include my taking two weeks of vacation at the end of December / start of January, which meant pushing our Winter Camp back by a week...
However, I have heard that if you manage to save all of your vacation days until the Summer that you can take them during a Summer camp session and the school cannot force you to work (the SMOE office will tell them to bugger off because you're entitled to those vacation days contractually... One of the few non-gray areas of the contract, lol) |

**Should have noted - that probably only applies if you started in August... If you start in March I'm sure the reverse would be true where you could take all your days in your Winter break before your contract was up** |

It's a roll of the dice. One princpal might be nice and give you some "work at home" days and then he/she might be gone in the next term and the new boss might make you sit alone at school during the winter. |

it's all up to the principal/VP at your school. some dumb ass recruiters like to emphasize that they'll be lots of extra time given, well, there usually isn't |
