Hello everyone. I just moved to Ilsan from Seoul about three weeks ago. I don't know anyone here and I'm the only foreign teacher at my school. Where are the places to be in Ilsan?

I can't hep you with Ilsan specifically but there's a good place in Hwajeong just a bit further down line 3 of the subway. It's called Adventure Korea, and it's a great place to meet people and many teachers who work in Ilsan go there.

The owner is called Seokjin and he's a good guy who has spent time in Canada and speaks English. It's a laid back open bar and the idea was to create a venue to promote a healthy mix of expats and Koreans and thereby hopefully foster increased cross-cultural awareness and understanding, but most of all to have fun. They organise weekend trips to various places of interest which are often combined with activities like hiking, cycling, camping, white water rafting and bungee jumping. There is a free pool table, music, food, and they have a weekly trivia night on Fridays, which is the busiest night as a rule. They also have a soccer team (made up of foreigners and Koreans) and play on weekends.

The staff are friendly and the clientele is very diverse, including Korean English teachers and expats from all over. They like to drink and party of course but it's civilised and there's never any bother or rough stuff.

Check it out, you'll be glad you did. - www.adventurekorea.com

will have to check out that adventurekorea business.

jj mahoney's (behind grand dept. store - juyeop) - this place actually sucks, but if you ask any other foreigners around here it's usually the first thing to come out of their mouths.

underground - in hwajeong i think. not bad.

not a big fan of ilsan, myself. working very steadily to dig a hole out of here with a spoon.
